Weekend Fun

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend. Ours was busy. On Saturday we went to my brother's welcome home party. It was so good to see him again and he got to see Claire for the first time. Now he is off to combat training with the Marines in Gulfport, Mississippi. We won't see him again until the end of September when his training is done. On Sunday, we went to a retirement party after church, then went out to dinner with Kevin's younger brother who also got to meet Claire for the first time. I'm also working on birth announcements, so I'm hoping to get those out the next couple of weeks. Here are some pictures from the weekend.

Busy, Busy, Busy

Man, I cannot believe how quickly time is flying by. Claire is one month old already!! She is so alert now and gets fussy when she isn't being stimulated. So far, she has the same personality as Curtis. It's kind of scary. She is also starting to smile now. She has a beautiful smile. She is getting better with her sleeping at night, but I cannot wait for her to sleep through the night. I am so tired, but the kids keep me busy. Sometimes I wish that I could clone myself so that I could be in two places at once. I hope that everyone had a nice Father's Day. On Saturday, we went to Walmart to get some diapers, and when we got back to the car our left rear tire was completely flat. Kevin took the spare tire out of the trunk and it was flat too! We ended up calling AAA to come fix the tire. The guy couldn't find any holes in the tire, so he told us to take the car around the back of Walmart to the automotive department to have them look at it. Well, three hours later we drove home with all new tires since they couldn't patch the other tire. Lauren had a fever all weekend, then broke out in a rash Monday night. We took her to Urgent Care yesterday and she has Roseola. That girl is keeping us on our toes! Her rash looks better today, but it's still there. We should also be getting her referral at the end of this week or early next week. We didn't get to take Kevin out for Father's Day since Lauren wasn't feeling good, but I did make Kevin a really cool Father's Day card from the kids. I am so proud of myself because it turned out better than I had imagined and Kevin loved it. Here are some pictures of it:
The front of the card. It say's : A son's first hero... A daughter's first love

The inside of the card. Lauren's hand looks just as big as Curtis'.

Lauren Update

I talked to Lauren's pediatrician at church yesterday and he is going to write up a referral for her to see a gastroenterologist to have the scope done. He was saying that it's probably a rectal prolapse from her straining when she poops. Thankfully she doesn't have it as bad as some kids. The doctor was telling me that the daughter of a friend of theirs has the same problem, but hers was as big as a plumb. Lauren's isn't that big and I don't want it to get that big. He also told us to go back to using the mineral oil to lubricate her intestines. We should be getting the referral next week, so hopefully it won't take too long to get her an appointment. We appreciate all of your prayers and hopefully we can get this resolved.

Pictures and Prayer Request

Before I post pictures of Claire, I want to ask for prayer for Lauren. Last night we had to take her to urgent care because she is having rectal bleeding again, but this time there was something bulging out of her bottom. I have to call the pediatrician this morning to discuss the next step. We might have to take her to see a gastroenterologist and have a scope done of the inside of her rectal area. The pediatrician on call last night said that it could be hemorroids, a polyp, or prolapse (which is where her rectum turned inside out). So please pray that we would be able to get this resolved. So without further ado, here are pictures of Claire:

Look at all that hair! Hopefully, it won't fall out.

Monkey feet!

13 Days

Can you believe that Claire is 13 days old today!?! These first two weeks have gone by so quickly. She had her two week check up today and she is now 8lbs. 9oz. and 19 1/2 in. She also had to have her umbilical cord cauterized because it wasn't healing right and oozing puss, but she came through it just fine. We also had a little scare with her because when she was born the nurse told us that she had a "dimple" at the top of her butt crack. Apparently, when the spinal cord was developing, the skin got caught on the cord, and formed a bump or dimple and this can cause problems with her eventual walking. So we have been praying about this and the pediatrician looked at it today and said that there is nothing to worry about. It's too small to do any harm to her and she kicks her legs just fine, so that was a relief...We are still getting used to the fact that we now have three kids!! It seems so surreal, but we are adjusting really well. I would love to have more sleep at night, but this phase won't last forever. Lauren always asks for the baby every morning when she wakes up and Curtis just dotes on her. He is such a sweet little boy. God has definitely blessed us more than we could've imagined. I will try to post some more pictures later this week, I'm still trying to get a picture of the three kids together. Until then, have a great rest of the week.
